ESL EFL ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN NUMBERS 0-21 BEGINNER ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-21 TASK CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Perfect for developing English language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising numbers 0-21 in English. There are 36 differentiated questions, answer key, recording sheet and number reference sheet. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students. Task cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for sub lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students. All the questions are in English, including a range of English math language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use math symbols as visual clues and prompts, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. The resource comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format: 36 differentiated question cards 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Laminating is definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they cards are far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years. answer recording sheet we mostly use class notebooks for recording answers, as this saves prep time and paper, though recording sheets are really useful for more formal assessment purposes. answer key question card template for students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an integral to successful language learning, and is a really popular activity too. number reference sheet Try this freebie, which is in a similar format, and will give you a good idea of the level of both language and math, and whether this kind of activity would work well for your students: ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-21 TASK CARDS FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/english-numbers-0-21-task-cards-freebie-12951949 THANKS AND ENJOY YOUR ENGLISH LESSONS!

KS3 SPANISH NUMBERS CHALLENGE CARDS KS4 SPANISH NUMBERS 0-100 CHALLENGE CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Challenge cards help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of Spanish numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Spanish. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Spanish Numbers 0-100, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. All questions are in Spanish, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on Spanish maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is***integral to successful language learning***. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years. 2-page answer recording sheet, best printed double-sided. I use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. My students all have class workbooks, and they use those to work out their answers, and to note them down, saving both prep time and paper. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if you can. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Answer keys are essential in my view - they encourage students to develop more independence in their learning, and offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language. PRIMARY SPANISH CHRISTMAS KS3 SPANISH CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE CARDS NUMBERS 0-31 This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These Spanish Christmas Numbers 0-31 challenge cards are perfect for Primary Spanish and KS3 Spanish learners, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the term. The questions are entirely in Spanish, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of Spanish in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in Spanish in general, and certainly in Spanish numbers and Spanish Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of Spanish - they are aimed at advanced beginner Spanish learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context and images, which have a real Spanish Christmas theme, such as el turrón and las uvas, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The Spanish Christmas vocabulary provides a really useful springboard for discussion about Christmas customs and traditions in Spain, Spanish regions, and other Spanish-speaking countries too, comparing and contrasting these to other Christmas practices students may know. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards ***answer recording sheet *** answer key & question card template Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y FELIZ NAVIDAD!

FRENCH PRESENT TENSE RESOURCE BOX #1

KS3 GCSE FRENCH PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FIVE WORKBOOKS @ £1 EACH 150 conjugations in each workbook, 750 conjugations in total, differentiated challenges, answer keys & verb reference lists ideal for KS3 French students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in French. The verbs groups are: regular French -ER verbs regular & irregular French -RE verbs regular & irregular French -IR & -OIR verbs regular & irregular high-frequency French verbs reflexive verbs I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for homework, for practice, reinforcing and revision during holidays and at return to class, and for individual activities during cover lessons - I move onto conjugation quite quickly in my language learning programs, so that students can apply language practically and creatively, which is essential for progressing in language learning, as well as consolidating language and grammatical concepts. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practice the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how French conjugation ‘works’. The workbooks focus on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the French present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including the pronoun on form being identical, pointing out also that on is commonly used in spoken and written French, also meaning we, unlike the English pronoun one. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are currently learning. For example, with students whose whose first language is English, I frequently see attempts such as je suis mettre for I am putting or similarly je fais répondre for I do answer. I also refer frequently the difference in usage between English and French, and this is important particularly when explaining when and in which contexts to use the simple present and the continuous / progressive present tense. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written French is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. Each set is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. It’s also a useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity with my students. answer key which is absolutely essential in my view. Answer keys help students develop more independence in their learning, and provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. They also genuinely enjoy correcting their own - and particularly each others’ - work, and they’re a great teacher time saver too, which is always a good thing!
